Voices
You know that ringing sound that you will perceive when you are in a very quiet area? Some people say this is an auditory-illusion brought about the ear’s inability to detect frequencies below the threshold of the human senses. This is completely wrong. That ringing covers up something else altogether. If you are quick, patient, and maybe a little lucky, you will be able to hear past the ringing. What you will hear are voices whispering to each other. They will silence themselves quickly but with practice, you will become more adept at catching and interpreting what they are saying. You will hear things of the past, the present, and the future. However, you must be careful. Because there is no such thing as a voice without a body.
And when you start noticing them, they will start noticing you.

Project No. 8 Deck of Cards

Actual cost: $175. What it should cost: $30. Definitely looks cool, though.

Heavenly Sword Review
With production values like MGS4 and gameplay nearly identical to the God of War series, what could go wrong? Well, many things. Things like terrible SIXAXIS controls for weapon manuvuering sections, repeatitive enemies coming wave after wave, and the fact that you start off having the same weapon from beginning to end - with combos that make little to no sense - yeah, things can go wrong. Fortunately, some pretty graphics, decent pacing, and excellent voice acting was just enough to keep me going until the end. Very much rent-worthy, indeed. 7.5/10.

OnLive's Going On Cloud Overdrive
Okay, okay. I get it. Cloud's the next big step. But being able to play Crysis on a Macbook Air? That's f#@king nuts. If there's one thing these cloud phenomenon contributors need to get dead on starting day one is the price. Get that right and the fans will give you as much moneys as the content you're willing to put out.

The Horizon, HCI, and Beyond
This along these lines are what I hope to achieve one day with the knowledge I am to obtain in the next few years of schooling.
FUN… F.U.N., but what is that… what makes something "fun"? How do you make something more fun, less fun, funner, funnest? (I know, I know - grammar is taking a back seat right now) But really - what makes a game fun?
Well, that's just one of the things I hope to perfect one day as a usability researcher for one of my favorite game companies of all time; Insomniac Games. Since I love dealing with people, I'll have to establish and refine the usability research process. Conducting usability tests, surveys, and gather information, I'll provide data to help in the design and development of games.
I truly want to identify areas of a game that would benefit from user research and conducts studies that provide accurate, timely and persuasive info to improve the ultimate end user experience of the game.
So, usability test and playtests on games and websites. Revision of design plans from specifications to prototypes, data-mining to full-on publications. All shall be done - it must be; improving the gaming world forevermore.

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Review
In case you didn't know, I'm absolutely addicted to this casual pick-up gem. I didn't always have this addiction, but it has blossomed over time... now that it's here, I can't spend more than a week without having a nice sit down with one or more friends and beating the crap out of them (or vice versa) for a few hours. It's great. It's classic. The sprites kinda suck. But it's still godly. 9.2/10.

Killzone 2 (PS3) Review
Not sure what the hubbub is about - I found Killzone 2 to be as generic as they come. No real innovation, just lots of density smoke, a decent draw distance, and lots of fancy lighting effects in an attempt to mask gameplay that would've been somewhat cool in 2001. Wait a sec, it's 2009. So sorry folks, nothing to see here. Oh, and don't get me started on the controls. 7.4/10.

Noby Noby Boy (PSN) Review
Yeah, this one was weird. It was like a train set with no instructions and a bunch of moving parts. Except for a train, you have this weird worm thing that does nothing but stretch. A pointless endeavor really, but one would hope that it would hold a little more substance given the fact that it was made by the same makers of Katamari Damacy - one of my favorite games of all time. Unfortunately, the quirkiness only goes so far with stretching (versus Katamari's rolling) and I would imagine many would become bored within minutes into the game. A shame, really, but it's still an interesting piece worth noting. Just not of Katamari proportions. 7.1/10.
Flower (PSN) Review
Like a poem, Flower really has no form or function other than to mesmerize you. It's definitely a nice break from all the lame shooters and zombie fiestas I've been experiencing lately. So kudos to the boys at Sony for getting more and more creative games up on the network everyday. While superb and innovative, it's short as hell. Taking you about 2 1/2 hours to complete and another few just to get the trophies, you won't be getting much mileage for your money. It might be worth $5, but nowhere near the $10 that comes retail. Still, a sweet little experience if you've got some extra cash laying around. 8.0/10.

OMG! PSN Games Are Free!
A bit of an oldie, but a classic example of epic failure nonetheless:
A member at Gametrailers forums had only 3 dollars in his store account. He went and bought the COD4 map pack and he was shocked to see that he could buy a map pack that is 7 dollars. He then thought that they where all free and continued downloading almost everything in the store, only to realize a few hours later that the store saves your account info and takes out money without having to add funds. I'd hate to be that kid right now.ok..i have about 3 dollars on my account and i tried to download the COD4 maps and it worked!!! and i started to download almost everything on the PSN!!!!
OMG!!!

How To Share Games On PSN (Playstation Network)
This tutorial will tell you how to share PSN games with other people, bought or free (I believe this also includes Playstation Home items).
For the "sender":
- Purchase and download a game from the Playstation Store
- Go to account management for the account and delete the billing information from your personal information if the PS3 saved your credit card info
- Change your password temporarily for the share
- Give login info (email address and password) to the receiver
- When the share is completed, change the password
- In the PS3 XMB menu, add a new user account on your PS3 and sign in to it
- Select the network on the XMB and create an existing Playstation Network account
- Use the login information given from the "sender" to create the existing account
- Login into the account
- Enter into the Playstation store
- Click on "Download List" on the upper right near the person's userID and select the game you wish to download and hit download
- After game is downloaded, notify the "sender" that the download is complete so they can change the password to the account
- Enjoy!
Why Paying For An MMORPG Is Utter Nonsense
While WoW seems to be increasingly popular over the past few months, I can't help but to criticize anyone who actually continues to dish out $15 a month to play this game. Hear me out. This isn't coming from someone who hasn't actually given the game a go - I recently completed my monthly trial in hopes of acquiring some kind of gaming addiction, but really found no reason to go back to it.
After completing a number of quests, getting my Paladin to Level 20, and experiencing my first slaughterfest on a PvP server, there was little left in terms of replayability and reasoning behind paying another $15 to play another month. That's not to say it wasn't fun during those few weeks, but despite my love for Final Fantasy and other RPG games, my late entry into the franchise made me notice the dated graphics, tedious gameplay, and product design purposely catered to young angsty teens or bored 25-30 year olds with nothing better to do.
So it finally came down to a question of priorities - if you really wanted to finish up "X" quest to get a fancy item and show off to a couple of strangers, or actually go out and meet some real people/obtain a real job of sorts. In other words, it's a game developer medium that has taken flight due to mainly hype and user-base, not content itself. And somehow, in this indiscernible mess of PvPing, spells, and guild wars, you have Blizzard kickin' back and enjoying billions of subscription dollars rolling in.
Similarly to the Microsoft's Live subscription service, they're only charging because they can. It's unbelievable how fast people are quick to open their wallets without questioning where their money is going. Frankly, the subscription effect is mainly due to monopolization built on effective advertising and consumer ignorance. Companies should be paying the customer to use their service, not the other way around.
Just take a close look at Valve's approach to all their new downloadable content; despite knowing that their customers will likely pay for their quality work, they continue to release updates free of charge, adding even more value to games that have already received high praise from the gaming community.
In the end, it's still people's money and $15 realistically equates to nothing more than a few good meals at a burger joint and a Starbucks coffee. However, the act of charging players monthly to use a service that's been already established (with a few doses of new content thrown in time to time), requiring the same resources originally used to maintain the original game itself, is completely illogical and a slap in the face to gamers on a dime.
