Sicko Review

As much as I despise Mickey's squeaky, "Why not ask yourself this?" tone throughout every single one of his movies, I found merit in this movie - far more than any of his previous works. Sure, it's slow. You hear stories of tons of people all over the country, extreme case studies of each, begging the question, "Why in the hell don't we have universal health care when it works so well in other countries?" Better yet, "Why do I get worried every time I get sick?" The movie doesn't present answers, nor does it intend to. It's an outrage machine, as stated by Atul Gawande, and thus succeeds in a genuinely holistic Michael Moore kind of way. 8.4/10.

Paintball At The Office

Yep, those designers at Bruton Stroube Studios are up to no good again. This time around, we got a wonderful shot made easier (or harder if you look at the time it took to make it) via Adobe Photoshop. Curious to how they made it? Check out their video.

Bright Blinds Gives You A Magical Window

Are you one of those hard-working cubicle workers against the far corner where no sunlight ever hits? Do you work underground in a dark room with no windows? Are you borderline postal? Well, take a look at this. The Bright Blind hangs on your wall and is constructed from electroluminescent sheets. The light dispersed gives the impression sunlight is creeping in, much like a real blind covered window would do. So, calm yourself sir, and put down that shotgun. You can have a window. An imaginary, fun-filled window of lights and love and joy.

Hitman Review

Let's just pretend I wasn't an arrogant film prick when it came to reviews, and I said, "Man, this dude's camera work is amateurish at best." Unfortunately, this turns out to be true. I came into this film looking for potential - even skipping the reviews to give me a blank slate. What I got was a video game movie which was directed too much like a video game. Replace well-done CGI facial animations with a little boy (who can't act) and his slutty girlfriend. The result? You got it, a ninety minute reenactment of the next Hitman video game. 6.7/10.

Eat Legos Like In Your Dreams

I always used to bite on Lego blocks when I was a kid. They were just so fun to grind against my new enamel. God forbidden if I ever swallowed one though. However, now you can! Check out Legos' expanded market for ice cube trays.

The PinQY Makes Extinguishers Mighty Fashionable

Yes, even if that means changing its shape into an anodized aluminum red grenade. C'mon, who the hell doesn't want a grenade as a fire extinguisher? It's frickin' cool.

What's a better gift these retro-filled disco days than a silver or white framed print by Chuck Anderson. Filled with color and sparkles, nothing will warm my heart better than a gift from you to me.

The Moment of Truth

This has got to be the funniest shit I've seen all week. It teaches an important lesson, too. When life comes at you hard, you have be ready to make hard on the fly decisions.

Control Review

Control manages to create a stunning and moving portrait of the rise and fall of Joy Division, one of my favorite bands of all time. Each stage performance by Sam Riley as Ian Curtis is nothing short of amazing, placing you directly in the crowd and hypnotizes you with the manic guitar work and the main singer's voice. But with a story that has a widely known end point, the journey is highly emphasized here - along with some truly amazing camera work and narrative, leading up the incredibly moving and inevitable finale. 8.7/10.

Anthony Gallo TR-2 Subwoofer

Gallo’s TR-2 subwoofer turns cream into butter (which burns by the way.) That aside, the vented wooden circular cabinets allow the 10" long-throw woofer to breathe like an angel. Acoustical suspension allows the integrated 250-watt class A/B amp to do its job - generating a tight, remarkable bass that's worth every penny of its $700 price tag. Pair these up with some active studio monitors and you've got yourself one kick ass sound setup.

Transit Mailbox, Tokyo Subway Inspired

Transit is designed by Stephen Hugo-Seinader and inspired by the Toronto subway system. Conceived to be a simple, clean expression of its function. This works great if your room is stark white - like many Asian households are for "resale value."

Crysis (PC) Review

What incredible perspective and engine design, all thanks to the great work of the Crysis Development Team. I had trouble running things at first with high settings, but the game still looks beautiful at high resolution with particle effects on medium. Overall though, the game is loads of fun. Almost too much fun. You can sit there shooting at trees and watching/hearing them fall. Pity the fool (me) who has to upgrade to enjoy technological bliss. 8.7/10.

The Search For 65nm Xbox 360 Continues

Looks like the first thing to look for is the Lot number, which is printed on a label on the side of the box. The first reported Falcon Xbox 360 was a Halo 3 Special Edition console, and for those consoles you needed to have a Lot number of 734 or greater (and a build date later than 8/24/07).

Update: Apparently that info above is more or less a lottery system. It seems they are pairing up old units with games to get rid of old stock. If you want one with the Falcon chipset, you need to find on the front: green lettering that says, "Go Pro." All of these have been confirmed by Microsoft to have the better, fail-less processor.

Alice Tsang Tells Me Her "Secrets"

Well, maybe not secrets, but she's in a movie called, "Secret," which doesn't really mean much. So yeah, the title was misleading. Anyway, feel free to read her blog if you're Chinese, or just gawk at her off yellow-balance picture taken by my camera phone. Okay, it's not even my camera phone, just stare at her chest already.

Japanese Nippon Cover, Stashes DS Like A Kunai

Sucks to be us folk in the states, since this awesome carrying case for your DS Lite looks to be currently available only in Japan. Upon visiting their online website looking to spend my hard earned money, however, I became confused. All these hieroglyphics they call Japanese tell me nothing, and the more I look stare at it, the more I think this product isn't even a product - it's a corporate freebie.

West Elm's Parson Desk With Drawers

The Parsons Desk from West Elm is super sturdy and looks attractive. Big enough as a kitchen table, but it can also be used as a great side table for entryways. Because it is continuously updated in new colors, seasonal colors can often be found on sale. Regularly priced at $299.

The Nerd Handbook For Dummies

"A nerd needs a project because a nerd builds stuff. All the time. Those lulls in the conversation over dinner? That’s the nerd working on his project in his head." Which reminds me... I gotta pick myself up an LCD TV and set-up wireless high-definition streaming on it. Read on.

Ocean's Thirteen Review

As much as I try, I still can't remember a single name of the characters in the movie. No matter, though. Ocean's delivers quite well in this sequel, much better than their second. The story is pretty linear, but the excellent soundtrack and characters makes it undeniably fun throughout. 8.5/10.

And they are just so goddamn awesome. Ranked #11 on the world's most intelligent puppies, they make loyal pets, are good for indoors, and are as cute as can be. See more at deadvideokid's photostream.

Borderline Napoleon, The Whitest Boy Alive

Very much reminiscent of The Kings of Convenience, this band mixes short stabs of synthesizers, continuous bass guitar, and a mellow yellow tune to make a perfect album for Davis life. Enjoy relaxing optical illusions to the beat of "Golden Cage," straight from the heart of Berlin, Germany.

Dust Voids Playstation 3 Warranty

Apparently, if you let dust collect on your Playstation 3 and it causes something to break, customer support will tell you that it's "too dusty" to be replaced under warranty. Then, they'll charge you a nice $150 fee for them to use a duster can to spray it out before they even take a look at it again. We all know the Playstation 3 is a dust collector from the moment you open the box. So this is kind of retarded if you ask me.

The Teenagers and Their Tight-Tight Jeans

Splendidly cheesy, post-punk, and gay, like Klaxons on Valium. Their London accents make them all the more blogable. Watch the video and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Herman Miller Aeron Chair

An office chair is one of the best investments a person can make - especially if that person spends most of this days dwindling away on his desktop. PC or Mac fanboy, it matters not, for the Aeron Chair costs $750 to $1150 - the price of a laptop on either platform.

Eva Solo Smiley Bowl Looks Really Happy

The new bowl from Eva Solo not only enhances the mood in any black and white, over-modernized room (given you don't be a smartass and buy the black one), but it also holds two different types of snacks. Who doesn't love choices? You could even crack a nut open and use the top to hold the stuff you're too lazy to throw in the garbage can! Man, what a cool bowl.

Transformers Review

CGI overload. CGI overload. CGI overload! Enhance patriotism. Lasers fire! Oh, Megan Fox you are so skimpy in your punk belt. Did someone say storyline? Let me tell you, it's short, simple, and full of one hit liners. Thank goodness for CGI. 8.2/10.
