The Creative Collective

This inn frickin' rocks. Especially when amenities come in forms of turntables, retro furniture, and the most insane placement of plants I've ever seen. Now, let's get creative.

Where You Do What You Do

Colethomas Studio is a small (but perfectly formed) graphic design studio based in Preston, in the UK.

IKEA JERKER Is Still The Greatest Desk Evar
Jack Cheng nonchalantly proves that the 2001 run of the IKEA JERKER collection still manages to be the best desk out there in terms of usability, timelessness, and functionality.

A Touch of Stockholm

From entrance walls to the skinny-leg lovers, there's something about the overpriced IKEA STOCKHOLM collection that I can't help but love.

IKEA ALEX Drawers on Casters
This, in addition to their IKEA PS, has got to be one of the best designs I've seen from the mighty blue giant lately, and it's been a real struggle keeping myself from buying one to store all my art prints. But quite frankly, I just don't have any remaining space in my apartment for the sexy lil' thang. Ah, well... $120 saved.

Obsessing In The Kitchen Pays Off
Lookin' like a goddamn magazine entry, Leah unveils her creative side and proves that seeing things on the other side of the looking glass may just be what you need to improve that pile of poop kitchen in your own home.

Arthur's Remotely Designed White Brick Masterpiece
If there's one thing I love more than computers, it's a spiffy loft for my sexy computer to reside in. If I had the money, I'd throw down some cash on a crappy Davis shed on top of a cafe and live there for the next few years to uprade it just like this. Though I'd more than likely go broke after my first Eames side table, you can check out multiple Eames items on Arthur's frickin' badass house tour.

Ikea BALK Flooring: Durable x Laminate
There's something about laminate that I love. Maybe I'm just a sucker for anything that mutates together a hybrid plastic/natural product. Ikea's new line of "wood" flooring seems to live up to the hype and performs genuinely well against animals, spills, and daily punishment. Probably will get these in my new house, given foreclosure continues to spiral out of control. Available in all IKEA locations.

West Elm Cadman File Cabinet Wins Fanciest Office Furniture Award
Everyone needs storage room for their junk. Why not invest in the best? Though the price is nowhere near cheap, it'll hold your paperwork in style, filing it away in a castered, beautiful silver finish, matching any IKEA furniture you've got laying around.
Update: Here's a relatively cheaper alternative, but still ultra-cool: CB2 Trig File Cabinet.

Team 7 Presents Loft Sex in a Nutshell
Got a loft? Got tons of income coming in, despite the dirty recession? Why not play matchy-matchy with Team 7's Girado collection? It's sleek, modern, and has more clean lines than an IKEA closet organizer.

Using a Curtain as a Headboard
Tmenotte wanted to paint her room, but she realized she and her husband would probably be moving within a year, which meant lots of of annoying repainting. Then, she thought up this crazy idea with IKEA textiles and Target curtains, making a very affordable short-term solution to infuse her room with color. With such clever use of fabrics, this is surprisingly the first sucessful headboard replacement idea I've ever seen. Read more here.

Meg and Ross' Life In Logan Square
Clever details throughout that accomplish exactly what Meg listed in their survey as their biggest design challenge - giving a gut rehab real character. I think this home has character and style to spare! Details like the photo mural, the dressed up IKEA armoire and well chosen vintage pieces take things very far from cookie-cutter. See more on their house tour.

The Greenest House In Davis
It's been a while since I've gone venturing off into the Davis wilderness to look for interesting tidbits to write about. Fortunately, I got a call today from my roommate begging me to come out with him to check out a hidden Davis treasure. Upon reaching our destination, I was floored by the marvel which stood before me. See pictures on my photoblog.

Alyson Fox Does Apartment Therapy
A wonderful job by Alyson from Designsponge. I especially love her Kozyndan-like inspired paintings scattered all around her apartment. It truly gives a personalized and fun feel to it. See more on her photostream.
