Baccano! Review

Holy crap. Never have I seen so many characters in a series at one time. Not to mention it lasts a mere 13-episodes - it's an amazing feat knowing they managed to pull it off so eloquently and stylishly with such a huge cast. Just don't get frustrated with the first episode; it pretty much outlines the entire web of plots with no connections to one another whatsoever. Give it a few episodes in and you'll eventually get sucked by the interesting characters, a great story, and the new-perfect mix of comedy/drama/action that most animes strive for. Surely, this is one series you definitely don't want to miss. 8.9/10. [Ayu] Baccano! 01-13

Kaiba Review

In the end, no words were necessary to bring this thoughtful, emotionally resonant work of art to a close. So much was resolved not with words, but with gestures, looks, and the thoughts that have no need to be said aloud. Kaiba, though embelished with an elementary art style, has successfully proven that it is still possible to find rich adventures in a mainstream culture plagued by dated story designs and piss poor direction. It almost makes me feel like I've stumbled on a gem - one full of human truths, human feelings, and art style done so creatively with exaggeration and eloquence that I often fall asleep thinking about the characters late at night. Hakaba Kitaro Review

With such unique character design, spazzmatic pop culture, and fun things like monsters, the afterlife, and fart jokes, what could go wrong right? Well, to be frank; pretty much everything. Because there's no backstory to the series for viewers who don't follow the story from back when it all started in the 70's, watching the entire series from front to back causes a dizzying time frame disorientation. Plus, since every episode works like a book all in itself, the viewer doesn't have much motivation to continue watching after realizing there's no connection between any of the episodes whatsoever. Many fails make one failed series. 6.9/10.

Last Exile Review

It's a rather old series, but it's still one of the best in my personal opinion. Fans of aviation, airships, and steampunk will definitely fall in love with this series. And even if you don't like any of the above, the art direction, character development, and (my goodness) the soundtrack is the most memorable part of all. A must-watch for anime lovers and non-anime lovers alike. 9.5/10.

5 Centimeters Per Second Review

Speak about breathtaking! Accompanied by the best visual direction I have eve seen in an animated feature, this poetic moving piece follows two young lovers maturing through the seasons, realizing sometimes things just don't work out the way we thought they would be. It's a beautiful sorrowful piece, and each frame is polished until the last glimmer of light that makes me roll my eyes at how crappy the usual run-of-the-mill anime looks. It's just one hour, but the wonderful artwork and charming storyline will leave you entranced. 8.7/10.

Dennou Coil Review

Despite the negative connotations with school life animes as being ineffectively "soft" and lacking any form of depth, Dennou Coil surprised the hell out of me. Introducing "virtual reality" glasses that were to replace the internet some time in the future, the complex story makes use of breathtaking animation, lovable characters, and amazing direction to create one of the most interesting series I have ever seen. 9.6/10. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Review

Get your baseball cap ready, an incredible journey with the funnest Japanese girl you'll never meet is about to set sail. Accompanied by incredible backdrops, on par with Spirited Away and Cowboy Bebop, the story flows as fluid and calmly as if from a book. All the while, beautiful piano echoes the themes of friendship, school-life, and death. If you need a sweet kickback movie that's a step up from the flood of crap anime released recently, be sure to check out this one. It's a trip that won't disappoint. 9.5/10.

Claymore Review

Claymore is definitely a great piece, mixed in with cute blonde girls, gigantic swords, demons, bloody guts, and gore galore. With a story filled with so many characters, complete with pasts, distinguishable attributes, and great voice acting, it's a surprise how well everything comes together in the end. While the recipe for Claymore isn't too far off from super original, the execution is what counts and they've certainly deserved two highly enthusiastic thumbs up from fans of action anime all over. Now go, enjoy this masterpiece before the Yoma get you. 9.3/10.

Sonova Bleach, Please Kill These Artists

There comes one point where I just can't take it anymore; a tear in space and time where I can no longer be optimistic. Like Chris Brown, the current Bleach servings weekly suck. No, they really suck. From the randomly introduced enemies with bad character design, terrible chicken-scratch explosions, or the disproportionate body parts in every other scene, there is no way you can call this my favorite show two years ago. At least Naruto has the nerve to outright admit they are fillers. This hurts my head worse than face planting off a guardrail onto freeway traffic.

Bleach before Bounto saga: 8.7/10.

Paprika Review

Movies that mix dream with reality often have a tendency to confuse, mesmerize, and psychedelically arouse the audience's vision from the popular unexpected means of mixing familiar icons with ambiguity and violence. A similar formula can be seen here. Paprika not only succeeds in trampling that piece of crap Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence movie deep down into the depths of hell (where the movie should stay), it produces plenty of playful themes and beautifully drawn art. 8.3/10.

Ergo Proxy Review

Honestly, this has been one of the most confusing anime I have ever watched in my lifetime. Full of enough mindfucks and a casanova of philosophy, I still surprisingly enjoyed it. Even with the cliche ending, I'm looking forward to another awesome second season, though I doubt there will be one. EP gets a solid 8.3/10.
