Ang Lee's latest piece is an ambitious cinematic venture into conflict, sense, and sensibility. The direction is incredible; no scene is overlooked and the character's emotions are captured so realistically that you get goosebumps as Tony Leung puts forward one of his best performances yet. And to be clear, it's not adequate enough to be considered an espionage film - it's a romantic film noir for adults. Though I'm only 22, I find the emotional complexity within the film to be almost impossible to grasp for anyone younger than 18. It's almost necessary for you to take a few hits from life in order to enjoy the film fully. That said, an incredible piece worthy of an Oscar. 9.0/10.
