Watch any subbed anime, movie, or TV show on your PS3 now.
- Uninstall any codec packs you have on your computer.
- Download TVersity without their included codec pack.
- Install FFDShow Tryout rev1726 0071224 from here.
- Grab the MP4 Splitter: here. (For better MOV support, get Quicktime Alternative)
- Grab the FLV Splitter: here.
- Grab the 1.0.2.9 "Gabest" splitter: here
- Install Gabest, MP4, and FLV Splitter by hand:
Use "Release Unicode" if you're running XP. - Extract MatroskaSplitter.ax and MP4Splitter.ax to C:\windows\system32.
- Start > Run > Type "cmd"
cd C:\windows\system32
regsvr32 matroskasplitter.ax
regsvr32 MP4Splitter.ax
regsvr32 FLVSplitter.ax
(You can uninstall with: regsvr32 /u matroskasplitter.ax)
- Go to ffdshow video decoder settings.
- Enable Subtitles.
- Make sure the following are checked:
Accept embedded subtitles
Accept SSA, ASS, and ASS2 subtitles (experimental)
Decode closed captions - TVersity Tweaks
- General > Media Sharing Device > Playstation 3.
- Transcoder > Always Transcode
- Use 1280x720 res, optimize Quality, Wired, and Minimum compression.
- Further Tweaks
- Edit profiles.xml in install directory with Notepad.
- Search "Playstation" and look a few lines below it.
- Change the following from mpeg16 to mpeg2.

- Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall Settings/Security Settings > Exceptions Tab > Add Program > Search your TVersity directory for mediaserver.exe
- Enjoy media streaming to the max! You now have the ability to stream every single type of media file to your PS3 (except Real format, who uses that anyway?).

In response to your comment on my blog: I agree. That's why I don't have one yet. Maybe soon. But I'll stick with the Wii for now. It reminds me of this webcomic I saw sometime but can't find now. Three cars at the start line, but the one labeled PS3 doesn't get off the line and the driver yells, "You forgot to put gas in the car!" Anyways, thanks for the comment!
on vista system, step 4 won't working.

I've spend ages on muxing, demuxing, re-encoding (etc) all my Mkv files with embedded subs.
With this simple solution I don't have to anymore. I still haven't quite figured out how to display the correct embedded sub even though I've set up ffdshow to choose my preferred. But then I just use external subs instead.

i followed these instructions exactly on a vista system and they worked. only the mkvs seemed a bit low quality and i cant see any subs. tho they play, which is better than i have done before
If you want full quality streaming, try mkv2vob and make Tversity stream only files it can't support - then you should be able to get full 5.1 sound without any lag (given you're connected non-wirelessly). Let me know if you have any other questions.
will mkv2vob show the subtitles?
Yes, mkv2vob embeds SRT and pre-embeded mkv subtitles into the vob format. You will be able to watch subtitles, it just takes some time to convert it to vob. Usually a few minutes if it doesn't have to transcode (which is 90% of the time).

Yeah, I wish it was more perfect myself. Then people wouldn't have to refer to ridiculously long steps like the ones I've written up. :T
its funny cause all the high def stuff is being encoded into mkv. you would think that Tversity or someone would build a better codec/method
hey man i just did all this 3x. i have windows XPsp2
i have uploaded my MKV videos to my library.
i try to play them on my xbox.
and then next thing happens it says it cannot because of the Codec.
and on the LOG on the TVerxity, says it cannot because trouble transcoding.
help???

I followed the instructions on a Vista MC pc. All my MP4 files encoded with Handbrake/AnyDVD in MP4 are now showing up in MP2 and saying that they are corrupted. Help...
