Persian Rugs x Mid-Century Modern

I've been kind of obsessively hunting around for a Persian-style rug for my place as of late. Not sure what it is, but the colorful geometric patterns of birds, medallions, and whatnot just seems to spark a vibe with me. It also makes it feel extra homey (ever since experiencing these types of rugs for the first time at my Bloomington residence.

50/50 Review

I gotta admit, I was a bit put off with the initial introduction of Gordon-Levitt's character with a shower scene (though I'm sure it got some girls to blush in appreciation) in 50/50. Still, it proves that with a strong cast, strong writing, and strong direction will put any opposing opinions to rest; this movie is a Oscar-worthy gem. It's a movie that eloquently places you in the situation we're all too familiar with - that is, death and all of its inevitably, but still manages to sprinkle humor throughout to tell a story that's about life as we know it. I mean, it's kind of funny when you realized that most problems are meaningless when death is staring right at you in the face. 8.7/10.

X100 Fuji Camera Pr0n

I still haven't been convinced that this camera can top my Panny GF-1 in terms of long term support, performance, and reliability, but it's certainly there in terms of looks. Maybe I'll grab one of these instead of a gigantic full frame. You know, until I have a $3000 female model who'll be up for doing a shoot with me in Morocco.

Plain & Simple

At the risk of sounding like I'm trying to speak for a movement of which I am not (yet) a part, I think there is a single, simple, fundamental equation and demand at the root of the protest, and indeed at the root of most problems average Americans face:

Money + Politicians = The End of Democracy

How on earth can we, as a society, choose to funnel billions of dollars to Wall Street, which turns around and pays obscene bonuses to its members, at the same time that we impose draconian conditions on students who need aid to complete their education and move on to jobs that will benefit society?

Looking at all the signs held by individuals in the We Are The 99% Tumblr site shows a huge percentage kids who either dropped out of school because of lack of funds, or who are now crushed by debt, with no hope of earning enough money to pay it off. (And thanks to Congress, such debt is no longer dischargeable in bankruptcy.) I truly feel for these individuals since I, for one, am one of them who are in debt for the long haul.

Others at the site describe their inability to access medical care, or overweening medical debt. I can also attest to being in this situation not too long ago.

In a cash-infused 'Democratic' political system, everything goes to shit. We can all plainly see that those with the means are literally able to purchase the policies best suited to meet their own selfish needs, snowballing the rest into socialized debt, for the future generations to clean up.

Thus, it's not so unreasonable to demand is that the cycle of Money + Politics be broken, so that public servants will once again represent those who vote for them, not those who pay for their television ads and junkets. The endless fundraising needs to stop. It's killing us. Politicians should be begging for votes, not money.

How is that going to happen? That's actually up to those who choose to run for office (which complicates the problem to no end). These protests, should they grow large enough, will eventually force those in office to make a choice.

I do know that good will come of it if it occurs. It will enable our system to begin healing itself, and optimism can again take hold in the American heart.

Dream House (Part 2)

Ideas ideas. They just don't stop with the infinite nature of the Interpipes. Luckily for me, that means three more ideas to add to my dream house plan.

1. Tiled kitchen backdrops with no appliances on the counter-top.
2. Colorful throws for otherwise boring set of modern Eiffel chairs.
3. Modern dining tables that can transform into pool tables.

Legacy Leftovers

To reach such high critical acclaim and accomplish so much in so little time is definitely something to be praised. But it's everything as a whole; the merger of design and consumer, his sensitivity towards multimedia-based future, and lifelong deliberation towards creating better lives for all of us - that's what I've come to known Stevie for. Thank you for everything, good sir.

Cool story bro, but instead of creating a self-defeating meme for Pedobears out there, I prefer Hypebeast's epic 900 page forum. Highly recommended, but proceed with caution - it's certainly not for the faint of heart. 

A Cinematic Orchestra

Still working on getting settled into Mountain Time, but until then I'll be hunting for inspiring art and video projects to take up time. There's plenty of ideas out there - it's remediating and making it 110% yours that's the challenge.
