I was never really a fan of that ridiculous TV show, so I pretty much came in expecting nothing much but some Wachowski fan fare and ninjas. After a front to back viewing, I was quite satisfied with having seen ninjas. What I didn't expect was the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the world of Speed Racer. The animation is perfect to the cartoonish and campy atmosphere and it's so fitting that I found myself chewing down pizza and laughing my ass off out of sheer amusement. The downside? Too much fun. It runs 2 1/2 hours. I didn't have enough pizza. 8.8/10.
