Panasonic DMC-LX3 Gets The Camera-phile Treatment

| |

My newest obsession: turning high-end compacts into ridiculous monsters. The view finder is the Panasonic VF1 24mm. The wide angle lens is not Panasonic's, but a Nikon 0.68x WC-E68 which belongs to an 6 year old old Nikon Coolpix 5000 camera which used a similar system and coincidentally a 46mm ring! It works fine on the LX3 (with the DMW-LA4 adapter). The Panasonic case is sold out, so a Lecia case originally made for the Digilux-3 (equivalent to the LX2) works just fine. For the PL filter, it's a Kenko PL 46mm filter. This costs around $10 versus $80 for the Panasonic version.

cool great post,

i'm waiting for my lx3 to arrive and was wondering if there are any "compatible" extras. i'd already seen that the leica case should fit.are you using the oddicial "extension tube" to fit the lens on? or have you found an alternative?
